Attractions for Business & Recreation
Northwest Montana’s Flathead Valley has the great fortune of sitting at the edge of Glacier National Park, the nation’s 10th park to be added to the National Park System in 1910. For over a century tourists have explored Glacier Park and the Flathead National Forest, experiencing high adventure and solitude in the beautiful mountains. Recreation opportunities abound, from whitewater rafting, trail hiking and wildlife watching to guided tours on foot, horseback, red bus and helicopter.
Visitors truly enjoy the natural beauty of Montana’s Glacier National Park where the locals are well versed in the history of the Park and the Hungry Horse Dam. The businesses are still reminiscent of the lifestyle of the area throughout the years. You’ll find Made In Montana products made by Montana artisans, and can even stop and sip a nice white whiskey at the local distillery, Glacier Distilling, or see a national touring act at the Stonefly Lounge across the street.
The Gateway to Glacier National Park consists of three small towns that boomed during the dam construction era: Coram, Martin City and Hungry Horse. The area is still populated by descendants of the early settlers and the leagues of workers who laid the groundwork for what has become one of the best places in the country to live. Today the people who live in the Flathead Valley and Glacier National Park live in a flourishing local economy.
